The Advertising Specialist uses their knowledge and expertise in marketing, advertising and social media in addition to project management skills to achieve the marketing goals of the organization. As an integral part of the Marketing team, this person works collaboratively to plan, implement and track multi-channel in support of campaigns in order to increase fundraising revenue toward ending hunger and poverty.

Project coordination of traditional and digital advertising campaigns (60%) 

  • Coordination of the production of ad creative
  • Collaborate with internal and external agency resources to complete creative assets by the assigned deadline. Including but not limited to: print, digital ads and other advertising material.
  • Collaborate with advertising media reps to ensure contracts are completed and creative is delivered by assigned deadlines.
  • Review ad copy and creative for accuracy and brand consistency.
  • Follow up on meetings to confirm action items
  • Assist in developing presentations to communicate campaign strategies to larger Heifer marketing team
  • Maintain archive of advertising campaigns, including creative, budgets and performance data


Reporting and tracking (30%)

  • Track expenses across advertising campaigns
  • Process invoices from multiple ad media outlets and external agencies in a timely manner.
  • Update reports on campaign status and performance by the assigned deadline.
  • Maintain archive of advertising experiments and related data to provide stakeholders with examples of lessons learned.
  • Use organization’s marketing tools to create audience personas for campaigns.


Administrative (10%)

  • Field calls from media sales reps and responding in a timely manner.
  • Schedule team meetings and conference calls.
  • Participating in weekly team meetings.

Essential Job Functions and Physical Demands:

  • Working at the computer for long periods of time
  • Constant face-to-face, telephone and electronic communication with colleagues and vendors; occasional interactions with the general public
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and to maintain confidentiality

Required Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field
  • Two (2) or more years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects from start to finish and on time

Preferred Requirements:

  • Above average attention to detail
  • Fundamental knowledge of social media publishing and moderation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for advertising in various media
