Arkansas Chapter of PRSA Announces 2013 Prism Award Winners
Mangan Holcomb Partners Wins Best of Show

LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock communications agency Mangan Holcomb Partners won the Best of Show Award presented by the Arkansas chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) during the chapter’s annual Prism Awards Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Arkansas Arts Center.

The agency won for the 2012 Arkansas Pharmacists Association Immunization Program. The association partnered with the Arkansas Department of Health and Arkansas Center for Health Improvement on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention immunization project to promote vaccines to Arkansas adults. Together, the APA and Mangan Holcomb Partners launched an awareness campaign to help educate adult Arkansans on the need to become immunized for flu, pneumonia, whooping cough and shingles. Within a year, flu vaccines increased nearly 80 percent, pneumonia vaccines increased by more than 110 percent and shingles vaccines increased by almost 300 percent.

Public relations professionals from marketing and communications firms, government agencies and nonprofits were recognized in 25 categories ranging from Media and Community Relations to Annual Reports and Brochures. A group of professionals from the Philadelphia chapter of PRSA judged the entries.

"The caliber of work demonstrated by this year's Prism Award finalists and winners continues to showcase the incredible amount of talent and expertise we have in this state," said Heide Harrell, APR, chapter president. "It is wonderful to be able to recognize the efforts behind the public relations accomplishments of our community's top organizations."

The Tom Steves Sr., Compass Award, created in memory of long-time chapter leader and public relations executive Tom Steves, APR, was awarded to Markam Howe, APR. The award, instituted in 2009 by the chapter’s Past Presidents Council, recognizes an Arkansas PRSA member who has an outstanding record of advancing the profession through a lifelong commitment to mentorship.

Top Prism winners were Eric Rob & Isaac with 17 awards and Mangan Holcomb Partners with 14.
