The PRSA Arkansas Crystal Award is presented to recognize significant contributions to the field of public relations. Join your fellow PRSA Arkansas members and guests as we honor Alison Melson, APR. Melson has enjoyed a more than 25-year career in public relations and communications, most recently serving as manager of communications with Entergy Arkansas. Prior to joining Entergy in 2017, she served as the vice president of communications and marketing at CARTI, a not-for-profit cancer organization that grew from serving 2,000 patients to 20,000 during her time there.

In 2015, CARTI moved into the $90 million CARTI Cancer Center, giving Alison the opportunity to rebrand the organization as a patient-centered, cancer-focused provider. Alison also has worked in public relations at Acxiom, Stone Ward and Arkansas Children’s Hospital and as a High Profile writer at the Arkansas Democrat.  Alison is a graduate of UALR, accredited by PRSA and a past president of the Arkansas Chapter of PRSA. She is past chair of the Riverfest Board of Directors and a past board member of the Komen Arkansas Race for the Cure. A native Arkansan, Alison loves traveling, and enjoys spending time in the outdoors with her husband, Tom, and their sons, Sam and Owen, ages 17 and 14.

Have you explored MyPRSA? MyPRSA is PRSA’s members-only, secure, private community that empowers PRSA members to create meaningful communication and share resources. In addition to this versatile community and resource library, you will have access to all of your membership account information. Be sure to take advantage of this valuable member benefit.

Why Arkansas PRSA?

We know the more involved you are in your profession and community, the more likely you are to be engaged in the workplace. The Arkansas Chapter of PRSA provides our members with knowledge, training and the opportunity for professional growth and connections.  Why should you be connected with our Chapter?  Here are four great reasons:

·       Be with Your People – By attending our Chapter events, you get out of the office and are able to mingle with people who share your passion for PR and communications.

·       Networking – Our Chapter members are able to connect with other members and industry experts in a variety of ways, such as in-person meetings and by building one-on-one relationships.

·       You Are Not Alone – If you are an independent practitioner or work in a small communications/PR department you might not have many people around to bounce ideas off of. However you are not alone, we have many members that know what you’re going through and are more than happy to give you advice and feedback.

·       Career Connections  No one knows more about what is happening in the PR/communications industry with regards to career opportunities, job openings and potential future connections to advance your career than the members of our Chapter.

Come join us on March 16 and be with your people – network, make connections, learn.  And, dilly, dilly – you will be glad you did.  #PRSAThinkLocal
